Coding interviews you can actually trust.

You watch them code, live, in their browser. Afterwards you can replay the whole thing. If they paste an answer in, switch tabs to a chatbot, or if a finished function suddenly appears out of nowhere, it shows up on the timeline where you can go look at it.

You get to see who actually wrote the code in front of you.

The problem

The old interview stopped working.

Take-homes are the obvious casualty. You send one out, it comes back clean, and you have no idea whether you learned anything about the person. Live calls are not much better if all you saw was a finished answer appear.

Skill looks like autocomplete

Good code used to be the signal. Now you cannot tell a strong engineer from someone with a chatbot open on the other screen.

Bad hires drain the team

On a team of eight, one bad hire is felt by everybody. Usually for months, because nobody wants to be the person who says it out loud.

Strong candidates drop out

Make someone install an IDE plugin and create an account before an interview and some of them just will not show up. The good ones have other offers.

● The AI fight

Watch how the answer gets built.

Someone reading off a second screen can look great for 45 minutes. The giveaway is never the final code, it is the path there. People write a bit, get it wrong, rename things, fix a typo they made two minutes ago. Copied answers tend to show up all at once, already finished.

The fix

The whole session, on the record.

You do not have to take notes fast enough to remember what happened. It is all saved, and you can go back to any minute of it.

01

Recorded and replayable

Scrub back through the session like a video, except it is the actual code being typed. Handy when two interviewers remember the same moment differently.

02

Integrity signals built in

Pasting into the editor does not work, and each attempt is logged. Tab-aways and code arriving in unnaturally large chunks land on the timeline too. Click any flag to jump to it.

03

Zero setup for candidates

They click your link and they are in. No account, no install, nothing to download. It works on a locked-down work laptop, which matters more than you would think.

● See it work

Go back to the exact minute.

Every interview turns into something you can replay, with the flags marked on the timeline so you know where to look.

    const need = target - nums[i]

Replay and integrity

Skip to what you actually care about.

A paste attempt at 12:34, a tab away at 23:10. Click either one and you are watching that moment. You get to decide whether it meant anything, which is the point.

  • The replay is just there, nothing to switch on
  • Click a flag, land on that second

Scorecards and pipeline

Compare candidates on the evidence.

Everyone is scored against the same scorecard and lined up side by side, integrity flags in plain view. By the end of the list you know who moves forward.

  • One scorecard, applied to every candidate
  • Your hiring history, searchable and comparable
How it works

From open role to clear decision in three steps.

Set up in a minute, run the interview your way, and review with your team. No training required.

1

Create and send a link

Pick a question or a ready-made template, set the language and the time limit, then send one link to your candidate.

2

Run it live or async

Watch them code in real time with private notes only you can see. Or let them take it on their own, fully recorded for later.

3

Review and decide

Scrub the replay, read the integrity timeline, compare candidates next to each other, and make the call together.

Everything you need

Keep a record of every interview you run.

Run the interview, keep the recording, and build up a hiring history you can search and compare later.

Integrity timeline

Paste attempts, focus loss and ghost-typing laid over the replay, so you can watch the moment it happened.

Session replay

Replay any interview from the first line to the last. It records itself, with nothing for you to set up.

One-link join

Candidates open the room in the browser. No install, no account, no time lost before they start.

Your branding

Your company name and colours on the candidate room, so candidates know exactly who they're meeting.

Pipeline and compare

Every candidate in one place, scored against the same scorecard and lined up side by side.

Retention you control

Recordings live exactly as long as your policy allows, then they are deleted for good. Candidate data can be removed on request.

The candidate side

It works for the candidate too.

The engineers you interview this year pick the tools at their own company next year. A fair, quick interview leaves a good impression with exactly the people you want to impress.

  • Opens in one click, with nothing to install
  • A clear brief, a visible timer, and a way to ask for help
  • Honest up front about what gets recorded and why
  • The same fair conditions for every candidate

Trust and privacy

Built for hiring you can defend.

Recording people is a responsibility. Meritan is honest with candidates and gives you the controls your legal team will ask for.

Consent on the record

Candidates see exactly what is recorded and agree to it before they write a line.

GDPR delete

Remove a candidate's data on request, on the retention schedule you set.

Retention controls

Decide how long recordings live. After that, they are gone for good.

Private by default

Only your hiring team can open a session. Nothing is public and we do not share it.

Audit log, data export, retention controls and single sign-on (OIDC) are live on Business now. SAML, ATS integrations and data residency are still being built, so ask us where they are before you count on them.

Pricing

What it costs.

Most tools in this space run into the thousands a year. Ours is $49 a month per interviewer, and you pay for interviewers, never for candidates. Not sure it fits? Email us and ask.

Questions

What people ask us.

Is this really AI-proof? +
No, and be careful with anyone who tells you their tool is. What we can do is make cheating annoying and visible. Paste does not work, odd patterns get flagged, and because the session is recorded a human can look at the evidence and make the call.
Do candidates need to install or sign up? +
No. They click the link and start coding. Nothing to download, no account, no password to forget five minutes before the call.
Can we run live and take-home interviews? +
Both. Sit in on it live, or send the link and let them take it on their own time. Either way you get the recording afterwards.
How does pricing work? +
Team is $49 a month per interviewer. You pay for the people running the interviews, so a busy hiring month costs the same as a quiet one. Business adds a platform base for the security and admin side, billed annually, and you can cancel after the first month if it turns out we are not a fit. If you hire in bursts and a subscription makes no sense, ask us about a one-off pack.
Is candidate data handled properly? +
Candidates agree to the recording before anything starts, you decide how long it is kept, and only your team can open it. There is a one-click delete for when someone asks you to remove their data.
How long does it take to get going? +
About a minute. Make an interview, copy the link, send it. Nobody has to get on a call with us first.

Try it on one real interview.

Your candidate installs nothing, and you come out of it with a recording you can point at in the debrief. Five interviews a month are free, so you can test this on a real candidate without asking anyone for budget.
